    It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you of the line of duty death of Kansas City Fire Department Fire Captain, P/18/A and IAFF Local 42 Member Bobby Rocha. Bobby fell ill and was diagnosed with COVID-19. Brother Rocha fought valiantly against this virus and his fight was a testament to his strength as a person.

    It is with a heavy heart that I must again reach out to you with the news of a Line of Duty Death of a KCFD member.  Communications Specialist/Paramedic Scott Davidson passed away early this morning from complications of COVID-19. Scott was a dedicated member of the Communications Division of the Kansas City Fire Department.

    At 4:49 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020, Local members responded to a collision involving a vehicle into a home at 837 W. Powers Ave. in Littleton. First arriving Littleton Police Officers reported a natural gas leak, evacuated the occupants and checked for injuries. When members arrived, they stood by with a charged hose line in case anything ignited and confirmed that no one was hurt.

    At 8:09 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020, Local members responded to a fire alarm activation at Courtney Downs Apartments, located at 15859 E. Jamison Drive in Arapahoe County. While members were responding, 911 callers reported water flowing and smoke in the building. First arriving Engine 42 found smoke in and around the large 3-story building and pulled a hose line for fire attack.

    At 1:44 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Local members responded to a traffic collision involving a structure at the Chase Bank, located at 9350 S. Colorado Blvd. in Highlands Ranch. When Engine 17 arrived, they found a Jeep Grand Cherokee into a support column for the building with significant damage.

    At 8:40 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, Local members responded to an apartment fire at 1039 S. Parker Rd. in Arapahoe County. A vigilant neighbor heard smoke alarms sounding from a nearby apartment, saw smoke coming from the top of the door and dialed 911. First arriving members from Station 21 advanced a hose line through the complex and entered the burning apartment.

    Norwalk Fire department Press Release Norwalk Fire responded to a MVA on I-95 involving three cars and a tractor trailer.at 2030 hours. Immediately followed at 2130 hours  by another car into the back of a tractor trailer with three youths in the car killing one. FD extricated all three passengers two with serious injuries and one fatality.

    Norwalk Fire Department Press Release The Norwalk Fire department responded to a house fire at #2 Pheasant Ct. at 1545 hours. The fire started in the kitchen of the two story home, and extended through the vent ductwork into the attic. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and removed the smoke from the home.

    Ridgegate Brush Fire

    At 9:38 a.m. on Saturday November 7, 2020, Local members responded to what started as a small brush fire to the south of RidgeGate Parkway and about a mile east of I-25 in Lone Tree. Multiple callers reported the fire moving at a quick rate of speed with high wind speeds in the area. The fire was upgraded to a large brush fire, adding more resources to the incident.
    Sante Fe Dr. Vehicle into Building

    Just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Local members were dispatched to a vehicle into a building, near W. Maplewood Ave and Sante Fe Drive. Upon arrival, members sized up a multi-vehicle accident, involving two cars on Sante Fe and a tow truck crashing into the side of a car wash. No injuries were reported.
    Lisbon Ct. Structure Fire

    Just after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, MetCom received multiple calls for a residential structure fire near E Kenyon Place and Lisbon Court. Incoming units confirmed a smoke plume was visible and upgraded the response to a confirmed working fire. Upon arrival, units saw heavy flames coming from the back of the home and confirmed that the family and their pet had evacuated.

    Steam or smoke? In cold weather sometimes it’s difficult to tell the difference. Just before 7 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2020, Local members responded to a possible building fire at 7921 S. Platte Canyon Road in Jefferson County. The 911 caller reported dark smoke coming from the roof that appeared to be getting worse and smelled like burning oil.
